Avoid at all costs unless you like wasting time
A brutal, slow moving, disorganized disaster of a place that should only be recommended to enemies, jerks, and those who enjoy frittering away their time in a line due to lack of staff and an antiquated, horrid registration procedure.

Scam Artists!
When renting, not a word of warning, but upon return we were charged $100 for bringing our Jeep Compas back dirty! Well, DOH! Of course it was dirty, we drove it for 5 days to two national parks and ~ 500 miles. Inside was clean, that was not an issue. We admittedly had to drive thru a mud puddle at one of the parks, but it was something that any car wash would take care of. I guess they don't plan on actually having to wash cars between rentals!
Service
Customer service agent on phone (after they ignored letter) said that if the agent said it was unusually dirty that it must have been and just pay the fine. Will be denying claim with credit card. There is a reason companies like this are cheaper. They find unethical ways to get more money.
Blatant Cheating of Customers!
Rented a Jeep Compass to travel from Las Vegas airport to Zion and Bryce Canyon NP's over 5 days. Put ~ 500 miles on car which performed fine. Astonished whe we returned car to be charged $100 because the outside of the car was dirty!. Admittedly, at one of the parks we were forced to go through a mud puddle, but it was no big deal and a drive-thru car was would have taken care of it. Agent told us that they would have to clean the bottom of the car too, since it was undoubtedly dirty now! When we offered to take it and go through a car wash, they replied that was not an option since we had already returned it. A complaint letter was ignored and a phone call gave me a customer service guy who said that if the agent said it was "unusually dirty" that it must have been!!! You cant make this stuff up. These cheaper companies find a way to get the difference in $'s back.

WORST
The WORST car company I have ever dealt with (& we rent a lot!). Slow & deceptive. I was pregnant and travelling with 3 small children under the age of 5 by myself. We had just exited a 4 1/2 hour flight, lugged all of our luggage through the incredibly inconvenient shuttle process and waited in line for nearly 40 minutes. With the haggard children lobbying for my attention the agent asked me "what kind of insurance would you like?", This being my first time renting by myself (usually my husband handles the interaction) I replied in question form..."whatever is the most basic that's required..." INstead of telling me insurance was not required, or helping his customer, he added a $400 charge to the bill, did not announce that the total would now differ from what I had originally booked, and handed me the receipt to sign quickly while dealing with the kids. This company was deceptive, did not answer questions, when I called to complain informed me that they have no actual department for complaints, or any way to submit a formal complaint, or look into complaints at all.
If you book with the company you are definitely taking a risk! Their employees put sales before customer service, and there is no way to fix anything if something goes wrong!!
I know I will never EVER use this company again, I don't care how much more I have to spend. Thrifty should be ashamed!
The central issue is the fact that when you get to the desk the procedure for the person to check you in is literally incredible. An endless series of key strokes, up sell questions, and menacing looks when you refuse them all really makes a good impression.
I am a dedicated National customer and have been for years. Everyone once in a while I made a bad decision and book on price. Thrifty was the cheapest on paper but the hour and a half I spent to pickup the car was far more expensive, nerve wracking, and frustrating than the extra expense I would have had through National.
How an operation like this stays in business is one of the great mysteries of the modern world.
