Thrifty Car Rental - Boston Logan International Airport - BOS - Massachusetts - USA
Unverified Renter Reviews
Thrifty the most dishonest and unprofessional company
I have been renting cars due to business travels and recently for unfortunate illness in the family, and in all my years of renting I have never dealt with a more unprofessional, unreasonable and heartless company to compare with Thrifty car rental counter at Logan airport and Thrifty's corporate customer service!?
We were in Boston for an appointment with a cancer specialist in Dana Farber Institute. We arrived in Boston early to take advantage of cheaper fares and when great companies like Extended Stay America gave us great deal through American Cancer society, Thrifty car rental charges us for an insurance that we did not agreed upon when verbally asked and not only that the bill of $176.93 was changed to $1000.21 . When we picked up the car Dave at the counter told if we wanted insurance, we said no thanks our own insurance cover rental so he said agree with the terms which are standard and you will be on your way in no time. We agreed, signed and left the counter. I am a very cautious person and check my bills, this one time I did not, as I have been preoccupied with my husband illness.
On Wednesday December 10th as we approached the drop off line two and half hours earlier then we suppose to, I noticed that instead of $176.93 that we suppose to be charged we were charged $337.28. I walked around the car with the person taking back the car, he scan the agreement and told me to discuss the over charge with the rental counter . We approached the counter and Dave whom helped us with the rental at pick up told us that it is possible that we had told him we do not want the insurance but we should have not agreed with it. If you have seen the system at the Thrifty rental car with tinny letters and a long list you know what I am talking about. We trusted him that he made a note of the fact that we do not want insurance. He told us that he is sorry but it is out of his hand now and the customer service in corporate will make the derision. I called the customer service I was passed to three different people until this woman name Patricia picked up . She was very rude and treated me like she was doing me a big favor by talking to me. I told her the whole story for the third time and all she told me was you agreed with it and there is nothing that I can do for you. I asked if could talk to a manager she basically told me she was it and there is no one above her.
I was heart broken for being charged an extra $130.00, but all I could do was to never ever rent from such a low class company ever again.
As I said I follow my bills closely so I called to check my AMEX balance on 12/19/14 and found out I was charged $1000.21 by thrifty. I was furious, I ask my AMEX to dispute the charge and called Thrifty's not so nice customer service to find out why I am being charged so much. The not so nice customer service person name Tina said that you dropped off the car on 12/17/14 instead of 12/10/14 so daily charges and insurance added another $670. Unbelievable!! I dropped off the car two and half hours early on 12/10/14 and they are charging me seven extra days. Who keeps their flight passes after they have come back, right? wrong that is what she asked me to send her to prove that, I did in fact left the airport. I kept our passes to keep track of our travel expanses. I do not have to tell you about the stress that, this whole ordeal have brought upon us and at a time that we should be focusing on a Cancer patient I have been dealing with Thrifty. If you can avoid renting from this company, pay a little more and go with someone that knows what customer service means.
