Charged me $50 more than quote - after I dropped car off!
I reserved a car through Travelocity. The cost was supposed to be $114 for a Friday pickup and a Sunday drop off. When I checked in, the guy said $121 - but said he would honor the $114. "Drop it off in two days at about the same time." But when I did this, on a Sunday, nobody was there. This wasn't mentioned upon pick up. So I read the sign on the drop off box, and it said to deposit the keys along with the rental contract in the box, which I did. It required me to record the mileage and the time. I did this. Later on my Visa, I noticed the charge for $170 - and NOT the $114 we had agreed upon. I called the Hertz in Weymouth, MA and asked for an explanation. Turns out, they blamed ME for them being closed on a Sunday, and furthermore, said it stated this ON THE DROP BOX??! Which I did not see this, anywhere. Could have been mentioned when I (1) called to confirm the reservation or (2) when I showed up with a reservation. I was supposed to be charged because it was on the dropbox?? After the fact? GOTCHA!! NEVER AGAIN.

The check in guy was very friendly and honored the seven dollar difference between the quoted price and his price.
WORST PERSON: was the woman when I called on the phone several days after dropping off the car. She did NOT care about anything I had to say, interrupted me, cut me off to tell me something about a notice on the drop box, which she apparently felt justified the $50 overcharge. Although this office was the one that charged me the extra $50, she said they couldn't retract it, and that I would have to call another number to get the charge rescinded. I am appalled at her rudeness and uncaring attitude. How can you justify an extra day charge because YOU choose to be closed on a Sunday?? "We don't know when you dropped the car off. You could have an entire extra day use." SO strange.
