Rip off

Rate sound too good to be true and that's the catch. The final charge will be very different from your estimated total charges and they will make you to sign without explaining why you have to pay that much.

Let me explain what happened with me.

When I got the receipt when picking up the car, I asked why the amount is higher compared to what I got on-line and at the bottom of the receipt is twice as much as the upper number. I was explained that if I get the car back without any damage, I won’t be charged any extra money. If I return the car damaged, I agree to pay the amounts.

Please note that I never was asked if I want to purchase anything in addition to my reservation. In my past experience dealing with rental car companies they would offer some additional coverage or liability and when I refused they would make me sign the agreement that stated that this was offered to me and I refused to buy. The Sixt agent never said a single word about any additional coverage or liability, however they quietly charged me extra money for SLI Insurance. By the time of signing not a single word of additional coverage or liability was said. And by the way, the rep asked me twice if I want to prepay the fuel. Both times I said no, I will fill the tank and return the car with gas.

It turned out that additional liability insurance was added without my consent as was a charge for the gas. The rep did not explain the charges, he just said sign it. I circled numbers and put OK when he explained that I won’t be charged if I return the car without any damages.

When I took the car back I had a yellow slip which I signed at the time of getting a car, and which was signed by their rep at the time the car was returned. The slip reflects car condition and gas level in the tank. The rep said this is a slip for me to keep. Then when I got inside the facility, the guy at the front desk requested the yellow slip and made me give it to him. I did not get any receipt when I returned the car. On my request for the final charges receipt I was told that there are no receipts besides what I already got the day when I got the car. I left their facility without the yellow slip and without any final charges receipt.

I talked to their rep today and was told that yesterday or day before yesterday they decided to give me a refund for bringing the car back with tank full of gas. I believe this is resolved. They enter the readings into their computer right away but they also took from me the yellow slip with indication that tank is full. Basically I had it and gave it to them when was asked to do so. They agreed to return money they charged for gas as there is evidence that car was returned with a full tank.

But it appears that it is my fault that I signed without catching them on adding SLI to my bill. Strictly speaking in the case it is my fault of trusting them. But it is not a right way of doing business. If they would ask me about the SLI, I would refuse as I did in the past as my company, my auto insurance and my AMEX card company would pay for that. I never was ask to buy but simply was charged. Now I can’t get any apology or money back for the dishonest way of them doing business.

I do understand now that I shouldn’t trust the guys, should check every line on the receipt and ask for explanations. But it did not occur to me that there may be charges for something we did not discuss and I did not agree to purchase or pay. Basically they fooled me and took a full advantage of the situation. Dishonest way of doing business.

Very disappointed fact after which I should check every line if I ever go back to rent a car from them.
I don’t have any hopes for recovering money for SLI, but still I want people to know about Sixt practices, to be aware, not to do the same mistakes I did. The service was very dishonest and deceiving.

Buyer beware!!!

Buyer beware! The car we reserved was a midrange convertible when we arrived the car was already given out and the sales person upgraded for no charge. This would have been alright, however, the car was a piece of junk, 2016 Ford Mustang that was filthy inside and beat up on the outside, dings, scratches, loose back bumper and more!!! When we returned the car we told the attendant of the issued, he assured us that we would be contacted. The following week we were contacted with a "claim for further damage" to their "bait" car!! After almost and hour on the phone the claim was dropped and they did nothing to compensate us for the negative experience. I will NEVER rent from this ghetto company ever again.

SCAM ARTISTS

Scam artists!!! Authorized two cards on file for security deposit (Car was already paid for) and lied about it. HORRIBLE COMPANY. Refused to respond to email and calls, had to resort to calling police before they would even look into this matter. Worst way to celebrate a birthday. They also didn't have the car we reserved. AWFUL service, no follow through. LIERS.

AWFUL SERVICE

Rude, snide condescending rep on April17 late evening. How this misfit keeps his job is a mystery. Gave away our PRE RESERVED car after or flight was delayed then gave us attitude when we were questioning why they would do this. Return experience was great. Would not return EVER based on this ignorant jerk and bait and switch.

Had Reservation, but NO Cars Available

I had a reservation with Sixt at TPA on 2-13 and even filled out the pre-registration the day before. Their driver picked me up at the airport and took me back to a TOTALLY EMPTY LOT. They had NO cars, and I was one of about 5 people who were there around the same time. We were all told the same thing. “We don’t honor third-party reservations (Carrentals, Travelocity, etc). They don’t mean anything if they’re not paid for in advance.”

I had 2 options. The 1st was for them to drive me over to a competitor and rent a car at the standard walk-in rate which was 75% higher than the price I had booked at. So 1-1/2 hours later, I took the second option. They put this 66-year-old 98-pound woman in a 15-passenger van to drive 67 miles from TPA to Sarasota. Very unprofessional and poorly run.

I am writing a review here and just about anywhere I can find. Because an employee had told me to do so, because the owner of this location is a shister. Quoted from the employee himself. To start off, I booked my rental car 2 months in advance. When i arrived at sixt rental car in tampa, I was faced with a dilemma. The front desk associate had broke the bad news to me that my rental car that I reserved 2 months in advance was not available. So my options were, down grade to a mini van, or upgrade for a whopping 12$ extra a day for a volvo. I am a young girl, and later was informed by the employee at my exit (which ill clarify more on later) that it is a state law if they dont have the car you reserved they have to give you the same price for the upgrade as it was when you reserve the car. Now for the return, returning my volvo was the biggest nightmear! Ill try and discribe this volvo as it was when I picked it up. It was a brand new 2014, had been drivin like crap from previous drivers, there was scratches and dents all over, inside the car there was cigarette burns in a couple spots, the axle was bad and had a really bad pull to the right, and the gas was only half full. Before I dropped the car off, I filled the tank back up to half full at a gas station right next door to sixt. As I dropped the car off the guy was walking around the car and then got in the car and checked the gas level. So he grabbed my attention and said, "mam you do realize your tank was at 6/8th of a tank right?" I said, "no it was at a half tank." I didnt argue any more and went and filled up a little more. I get back and he also pointed out a decent scratch on the front bumber. He said I would have to fill out an incident report, give my insurance information, and my card was going to be charged a total of 880$!!!! I said, "this is rediculous! , I never made the scratch and the car was full of them. The lady inspector who was inspecting the car never walked around the whole car, checked it while it was dripping wet, and was doing all this while texting!. Can I speak to a mananger!!" The guy never said there wasnt a manager, after I asked several times. I am now dealing with my insurance, who I know will stick up for me, and my bank. Non of which I asked for or deserved. I truly hope everyone sees this before they think about renting a car from this place.
