TAMPA LOCATION STOLE FROM ME!!!!!!!!!!!!! CRIMINALS!!!!
CRIMINALS... After waiting in line for 2 hours, I specifically said that I did NOT want any additional coverage or promotions. I had a valid reservation, and simply wanted to pay the remaining balance, get my vehicle, and leave. The attendant asked me to swipe my card, and sign for the purchase. What I was really signing for, was the rental agreement, not the payment. I found out later that the attendant had added coverage without my knowledge, and quickly had me sign for my "payment", which was really signing for the coverage instead. I have contacted their customer service, and was met with a rude and condescending representative who basically told me to "deal with it". Because this is a he-said, she-said situation, there is no legal action I can take against them. I will actively dissuade anyone from ever renting with this company. They are criminals, and from previous reviews, this is not the first instance. I know the prices can be appealing, but PLEASE, rent from another company, or you'll end up paying much more than the difference in charges and coverage that they sneak into the agreement before you sign. If Dollar Car Rentals is reading this, you have my name on file and I will gladly take your call as well as my money that you stole from me.
Worst rental car experience I ever had.
I cannot say enough negative things about my experience with Dollar. 50 minute wait time and only one agent working. I had booked an "upgraded" car
(Nissan Maxima). Covered in scratches and dings. No one walked around the car with me to point out the defects. The stickers where they noted the damages were still attached to the outside. No smoking they said but the car reeked of cigarettes and had burn holes in the interior. This was in no way an "upgraded car". It made a lot of weird noises when I drove it and made me very nervous for our safety. Tried to call twice when I had this "car", but the first time I called, was on hold 20 minutes until a woman with a thick accent came on and told me that wasn't her department and allegedly transferred me. 35 minutes later, I hung up. Second time I called, hung up after 40 minutes on hold (mind you, I was on vacation, and this is how I spent it). I had booked through a travel agent and had never used Dollar. I will NEVER use this substandard company again. I tried tweeting to Dollar but was constantly ignored, as was most people who had issues (you could see other tweets). They only tweet to people who say they are going on vacation in what I assume was their attempt to get new customers. They next charged my credit card over $600 for a car that was supposed to be $225. Called my credit card company to decline the charges. They are pending, but will decline them when they try to post. I am not sure, but in my opinion, they were trying to get damages on a car that was already damaged. Took several pictures of the car when I got it and will talk to my lawyer if they try to charge me for the damages on this. I have contacted the travel agent, who is reporting this to their corporate office. I am not one to write negative comments, but this about ruined my vacation with my children, the first one since we lost their Dad (my husband) to cancer. Please, Google issues with Dollar car, and you will see I am not the only one who has been charged for things.

Scammed again by dollar
Dollar just got us again with their "administrative charge" for tolls in Florida. On a $130 car rental fee for 4 days, we just received a bill for $104 toll charges. The amount of the tolls was $15. This was not mentioned at the time we picked up the car and so now we know how Dollar makes their money. This happened to us several years ago with Dollar and we have been renting from other rental agencies since then and have never encountered this sort of robbery.
Willingly Mislead by Dollar Tampa Desk
I picked up my rental car at the Tampa airport Dollar desk. Staff tried to sell me all kinds of extras, most of which I declined. Staff were two guys with a Venezuelan background, they spoke Spanish amongst themselves. They probably thought I didn’t understand them (I am European), they where surprised when I joined their Spanish conversation. I signed a contract for $320 and they told me they were giving me the additional driver for free. Just before handing me the car keys they told me I had to sign for the additional driver, they said it was ‘something administrative’, and asked me and my wife to sign.
What they didn’t tell me that they had me sign a new contract, worth $643 charging me nearly $300 for the additional driver + taxes. They didn’t tell me I was signing a new contract. They never showed me the part of the new contract with the higher fees (the contract was made up of numerous small pages), they only showed me where to sign. They never provided me with this second contract, they let me leave in a Dollar car with the first contract, which in fact was no longer valid.
On returning the car in Atlanta (at the Airport) I asked about the procedure, and the lady told me I could leave the keys with her and would be provided with all the information about mileage, toll and the final cost. This would happen by mail and within a few days. This happened on January 7th, nearly two month ago. Despite repeatedly asking for this information I haven’t received any reaction from Dollar Rent A Car what so ever.
I feel I have been willingly mislead by Dollar Rent A Car. This has cost me more than $300 and it tarnishes my memories of my holiday in Tampa and Florida. Since then I have done some internet research and I am not the first Dollar Rent A Car customer that has been willingly mislead. I believe the Dollar Rent A Car Tampa desk has an habit of misleading customers.
I have received no help at all from the intermediary CarTrawler. They immediately chose to go with Dollar Rent a Car, without really listening to my story.
