Scammed on insurance

I paid for insurance with rental cars. Com And when I went to pick up my car which I had booked a full size the lady told me I could only get a midsized car so I took the midsized car and she was asking if I wanted insurance I told her I've already paid for insurance now they are after charging my credit card for insurance which I have already paid for with rentalcars.com something needs to be done to stop them scamming people or car websites want to stop promoting their business

These guys try to scam you!

Do not rent a car here! Had a horrible experience. I had booked a car via rentalcars.com. Everything was in order. The waiting time at the counter was very reasonable, but then the negative experience started. First of all the guy at the desk tried to convince us to get a nicer car which he could give at a great discount (which it wasn't it was actually more expensive than if we had booked that car via rentalcars.com). Then he tried to make me buy insurance even though via rentalcars everything was already covered. The he tried to sell me an E-pass for the toll raods for 55 dollars. Which as a foreigner I didn't know whetere I needed one or not. I'm still not sure here if I got scammed or not, but let's give Dollar the benefit of the doubt on this one. After signing al documents and everything the real problems began when picking up the car outside. We rented a Ford Focus or a sort alike car. We were directed to the 'small car section' where we could pick any car we liked. None of the cars there came even close to the size of a focus (Nissan Micra etc). They were all really really small. So we went to the Dollar employee outside and asked for a Focus or comparable car. She said they were out of stock. Dissapointed we went back and picked the 'best' small car we could. When we came up to the same (very unfriendly) lady, there was another costumer there complaining to her that she saw a Focus in de mid-size section. At which point I confronted her with the fact that she just lied to me when she said they were out. Suddenly she changed her story and said I couldn't get a Focus because it was mid size and I only was allowed to pick from the small size. The fact that my reservation actually showed a Focus didn't seem to bother her whatsoever. When I said I was going to get a Focus anyway she said they would stop us at the gate. At this point I walked back in to the desk inside and explained that I wanted a Focus because that was what I paid for and they were still in stock. At the desk the man there was very friendly and instantly gave in and said we could pick up a Focus outside and that we would not be stopped at the gate. So in the end we got the car we paid for, but it took us over an hour. Most of all we cannot help but have the feeling that this was a deliberate action to try and give customers a smaller car than they paid for, to make more money. Also the unfriendliness of the staff was very dissatisfying. I must admit that with Dollar Las Vegas and Dollar at JFK I had much better experiences. This one was horrible. Next time I'll pay a little more and go with one of the 'bigger' companies.

scammed by Dollar Orlando airport

Hi ! We picked up a car at Orlando Airport 14th of June. It was prepaid at home (sweden), rented throuh the rentalcars.com website. The DOLLAR man behind the desk asked if we wanted Insurance, we said no (we were covered already throught rentalcars). The only additional cost we agreed on was a sunpass (104.98 for two weeks). I handed over my credit card and he said there would be an addiational deposit that would be returned when returning the car, so the total amount would be 355.50 dollars (but we would get back everyting exept for the 104.98 dollars for the sunpass). When we got home to sweden I realized that DOLLAR had taken all the 355.50 dollar and never returned the deposit..So I took a closer look at the rental paper and I now see that we paid for PAI/PEC which we had said that we didn't want (6.99 dollars per day, total 97.86 dollars), and we also paid for Prem road service 7.99 dollars per day (total 111.86 dollars). This prem road service was never even mentioned by the man behind the desk and had he mentioned it I would have said NO. I know I signed this but I trusted the rental man who said it was all deposit. My recommendation to everyone out there who is thinking about renting a car is to NEVER EVER rent from DOLLAR!!!!!

Totally Unfair Charge By Dollar

We returned our rental car at 5:30 a.m. to the Dollar Car Rental spot in the Parking garage across from the MCO terminal in Orlando. There was nobody on duty in the booth and there were no signs or a drop box to put your rental agreement and keys in. We were among several groups all wandering around the garage looking for instructions of what to do with our rental car keys. After we got our luggage over to the terminal, we returned the keys to the Dollar rental counter and were told that this was OK. We returned the car on February 12, 2016 and we were supposed to be only charged for a tank of gas. However, they charged us Cdn $419.86 because they said they had to make a new set of keys. We asked for a refund since the keys were in their possession at the rental counter inside the terminal, as there was nobody to return them to in the parking garage. The counter attendant should have notified the parking booth staff that the keys were returned to them. We are seniors on limited pensions and we enjoy going to Florida every year but with the high exchange rate, this was a very expensive trip as our Cdn $ was very low.

Comments
The Dollar Customer Service staff was not willing to listen to our concerns at all and said that we were at fault as the keys should have been left in the vehicle. We consider this very unfair because the company should have provided instructions, signage or a drop box in the parking garage. There was nobody there to help us and all the other groups in the same situation. When we dropped the keys off to the rental counter inside the terminal, they said that was OK, but as it turned out we were charged for their incompetence and failure by the counter staff to advise the parking staff that the keys were in their possession.

I have been contacted by the reviewer who would like it noted that Dollar via Hertz (Dollar is owned by Hertz) have resolved this issue with their customer and agreed to refund the charge.

bait n switch tactics

This car company basically stole from me! The usual fee for a toll pass is $20 per day or sometimes for the entire rental...$8/day on Priceline.com (without insurance) turned out to be $131.00 for 4days (bloody hell) I'll never rent from Dollar again! I emailed them and never hear back from them to explain charges I have to call and talk to someone who was less than thrilled to be working the phones for them! BAIT N SWITCH IS RIGHT!!!

Don't rent Dollar!

did not accept insurance then. Said o did not want it. Had reserved on line with all price information and was charged $200 more. Once in at hotel figured out what happened. staff flat out lied and said I had to pay $29 a day for "their insurance". Looked over documents and it said I accepted. Tried to call was told I had to go to a location. Found one on google maps it no longer existed. Found one the next day. Was refunded $117 but was charged for 2 days (28 hours) of insurance I declined. Spent hours of my vacation with small children dealing with a direct lie by dollar staff. Also car we booked they were out of. Completely unprofessional.

Terrible Customer Service

Do not rent from this car hire service ever, especially if you plan on booking online. If you book online be very careful as when you get to the counter they will try and do anything to either deny you service and steal your money or to rack up extra and unnecessary charges on your bill. I made the mistake of booking in advance and when I arrived I was denied a car, told to call their customer service center, which was closed on one of the biggest renting holidays of the year! Okay so you cannot give me a car and it is right around my pick up time? Refund me then? Nope, claim that a refund will be processed through their customer service claims department, first claiming that the funds could be transferred for use at another rental car company, which was just downright dishonest, and then when I get on the phone for a refund they tell me there is nothing they can do and I will be contacted by a customer service agent, who tells me that my refund can't be processed for some bogus reason that had nothing to do with the claim whatsoever. Ridiculous experience in total, will never use this company again. Go with a more trusted and easier service such as Enterprise and save yourself a bundle of time, money, and stress.

SCAMMERS

I was scammed by Dollar Rental Company in Orlando, Florida at the airport. Rented a car for 3 days , it was supposed to be $103 total. I DECLINED all insurance since I have Geico which covers me for everything. I filled up the car in Daytona before heading to Orlando, at most the car needed a gallon of gas. They charged me $50 for 5 gallons of gas, and $50 for some LIS insurance which I declined. I ended up paying $240 instead of $103. I will go with Budget next time around....I am seriously pissed this company gets away with this. Credit card company did NOTHING to help me.
