Hard sell was off putting

The car was adequate, it was exactly what we booked. All of the car rental companies at Phoenix airport are in a new consolidated Car Rental Facility. You get on a generic rotating shuttle bus outside arrivals and drive to the car rental facility which takes about 10 minutes. All of the companies are there in one big hall. It's easy and convenient and the shuttle drivers were great about helping getting luggage onto and off the buses. The one drawback is returning the car. The signs took us on a run around of the airport before directing us back to the car rental facility but maybe this had been corrected now that it's open for a while. The other catch is that you have to get back to the airport a bit earlier than usual to allow time to return the car and get the shuttle bus back to the terminal.

Other than that everything went smoothly. The guys were nice when we returned the car and reminded us to check that we had all our belongings. See comments under Staff for the thing that really annoyed me.

I don't want to mention her name as I am sure she was just doing her job but the woman behind the counter was very hard sell on upgrades and insurances. She got more and more annoyed every time I refused something. Then when I had to sign the papers, I noticed that she had added roadside assistance without even mentioning it to me. VERY annoying. She was NOT happy when I asked her to take it off. It left a really bad taste in my mouth

the worse Alamo

it was the worse Alamo i booked during last 5 years. They did not have the car i booked not even close to the similar/ I booked SUV Rav4 and got minivan - the only kind they had. The worse thing was that the man behind the counter did not tell us that they have only minivan and tried to convince us to pay 65 $ per day for it. Also the car was without GPS and we must argue that we already paid for it. We discovered all this when we arrive to the parking.

Charged $20 extra for nothing

The car was fine and nice. We had agreed to pay cash, took the car that was given to us by their employees and got back home to the Netherlands. Next thing I know that $20 was added to the agreed price!

It is 20 dollars only, but this could also have been like a 100. It is strange that they can just charge an additional amount to the agreed and paid price!

AWFUL COSTUMER SERVICE

When we arrived the computers were down and we were told this is a reoccurring problem. It took us over two hours to get our car. We signed up for the 'skip the line' service but when we showed up the man was rude and told us to go to the back of the line. What's the point in signing up for it? When we returned the car the guy at the desk in the main lobby area in the lower level garage was dealing with a man in front of us. He was swearing, slamming his hands onto the counter, throwing papers, and mumbling non stop under his breath. WORST customer service!!!!

They do have a great selection of cars and the man who gave us our keys in the garaged area gave us a free upgrade.

missing stuff left in car

Front desk agent didn't inform me about bringing the car back time wise. I was scheduled to bring it back at midnight. So when I brought it back they tried charging me for an extra day and told me at drop off I didn't have to bring it back til 3pm the next day. They sent me to the little station inside which was 20 feet from the car drop off. I went inside and was there for like 20 minutes talking to the agent which she took the best care of me and took off that extra day charge. I left my backpack which if looked inside the back sit you could totally see it. It's a batman backpack. I also left my garage door opener in there too. The dude who checked the car in didn't either care to check or to say anything. Which is fine its not his job to say hey man you left your bag in the car but I thought it was kinda shady cause I had an issue with my bill and he told me where to go. I didn't realize I left my stuff in there til I got home which I live 10 minutes from the airport. So i went back 20 minutes later and went to the station thing inside and talked with the same lady that was about to leave. She tried twice to go find my stuff but couldn't get to it for some reason which I thought that was weird but I didn't think to much about it. She gave me a number to call which I didn't really like cause I like talking to people if it's something important so i rode over there and met with the lost and found desk the next morning. The guy was nice gave me my stuff back but when I saw my backpack you could tell it was open or someone went threw it which made me feel weird but again I didn't think anything. I zipped it up and once I got outside I looked to see if there was anything missing cause it felt a little lite. My big $100 bottle of euphoria cologne which had half or more was gone. I was thankful that was the only thing missing but I didn't feel that was ok. I went back inside to desk just to let the agent know it was missing and he said that's unfortunate that happened. It was like he knew what is happening there put it was out of his control. I know it was my fault for leaving my stuff in the car but at the same time it doesn't leave a good taste in my mouth. I actually work for the Courtyard by Marriott right down the street from the airport and I will definitely let all my guess know to make sure they get everything out there car cause there's something shady going on at our car rental station
