Flex Fuel is our new fuel system, in which unused fuel reimbursement will apply to ALL reservations. This system has many advantages: flexibility, time and money saver, it will give you access to special offers and low rates in this website and there is no need to refuel the vehicle before it is returned. The cost for Flex Fuel including the fuel tank is charged upon arrival. Fuel reimbursement will be processed at the exact moment of dropping off the vehicle. The price will depend on the fuels market value on the days before the start of the rental period, the vehicle model, the tanks capacity and the type of fuel recommended by the vehicle manufacturer. The price for a fuel tank is based on the average price in the most and least expensive fuel stations around the province of Alicante (for rentals from Spain and the Balearics) and around Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, (for rentals from any of our offices based on the Canary Islands) in accordance to the prices published by the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism found here. You can check the approximate price per car group using the links below. The total up front charge = tank capacity x price per litre + Flex Fuel service charge. Refunds will apply to the remaining fuel to the nearest 1/8th of a tank.

Notes

After picking up their luggage, customers will go to the Punto de Encuentro (Meeting Place) located on level S-2 of the public parking area. There you will take our courtesy bus, which arrives every 20 minutes, to our office, which is located very near the airport. This is where you will pick up your vehicle, and this is where you will return it at the end of the rental period, before we drive you back to the airport.
If vehicle is returned after the 59 minute grace period, a charge of 40.00 plus an extra days rental will apply. On the other hand, if a client does not receive their car within 59 minutes of signing a rental agreement, Goldcar will compensate the client. Even in the case of a re-directed flight, if a client collects the car from a station that is different from that originally booked, an additional charge of 60.00 will apply.

Worst rental experience to date.

In Tenerife's northern Airport location - Alfonso at the front counter made my rental experience with Goldcar a very poor one. I would give them negative rating of -5/5 if possible. Alfonso was not helpful and was very rude about explaining all their hidden fees. He would explain "due to it being High Time.." (no one else was even in line... it was their rainy winter season - definitely not High Time). Fortunately there was a woman named Divina who rescued what was left of my patience. I will never rent from Goldcar again. Alfonso is a short over weight man... When i thought my experience with them was over... i was told "as long as i return the vehicle full of fuel they will refund my Fuel-precharge.. and it would take up to two days to get it back."... i NEVER got it back. I will be trying to call their company again tomorrow. Wish me luck. DON'T RENT FROM THEM

I was extremely disappointed with the customer service provided from this person. I would be ashamed to have someone like that representing my company.

I do not speak Spanish and originally thought I was misunderstanding him and asked for clarification and was treated poorly as though it was stupid of me to ask for clarification of fees not mentioned when I first booked the rental car.

I would like this man to take a sensitivity class or change his line of work where he doesn't require communication skills.

Bad experience with Goldcar Tenerife north

1. The office is so far from the AirPort. The pick up point at the airport so difficult to find. The time you spend until you get the keys more than one hour.
2. The system of full tank gasoline is BAD for the customer.
3. System of deposit for third part protection abusive (1200€). At the end you prefer the all risk system more expensive.
4. You can only talk with the central office. We had some difficulty and they were very unkind and didn't want to let us talk to the employees.
5. I will never us the service of this company and I want people to be aware of the bad quality of this company.

Our fuel systems are common practice in the sector. We offer a Flex Fuel system, where a full tank is pre-paid for and unused fuel refunded (minus a handling and admin fee). With this system, customers do not need to worry about refuelling the vehicle close to the office before returning it, and they don’t need to wait for it to be checked. We also offer a Full/full system for customers who prefer to return the vehicle with a full tank.

Blocking a deposit as an alternative to purchasing additional coverage is also common practice in the sector. Customers may consult the amount in our T&Cs (signed as read and agreed to before completing the booking on our webpage).

We truly apologize if the service you received was not adequate, we will notify the local manager.
