Do not use.
When we arrived at BQN @ 330AM. We were informed the minivan we reserved was not there. Since we had no other choice we settled on 2 compact cars for the 6 of us. We called the next day and we're told a minivan arrived so we drove 45 mins to airport to find out the guy who cleans the car hadn't shown up so we waited 3 hours for guy to clean. He was apologetic and agreed to only charge us the economy car rate of $232. This made a bad situation tolerable. The day we left we discovered they had removed the $232 charge and illegally charged our card $509 without our consent. When we told them they told us the owner overrode their decision. When I told them they committed credit card fraud they told me they don't care. Hertz corporate was very good about reversing the charges. So I will use them again. But never at this airport.
Worst Rental Experience Ever
We arrived at 11:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve, having rented -- and paid for -- a car a month earlier. We were told that there were no cars available. There were 10 people there who were told the same thing. We had rented a house an hour away. Eight of the people ahead of us gave up and left, by taxi to Old San Juan or wherever their hotels were. Eventually -- 2:00 a.m. or so -- 2 returns came back and we got one. The 4 of us and our mound of luggage crammed into the subcompact (we had reserved -- and paid for -- a full size car, but we were not about to wait for one any longer) and left. Before we did, the person behind the counter said that Hertz would waive the cost of gas. The supervisor there was rude to all. I learned that there were 46 people coming in with reservations for cars between midnight and 6:00 a.m. Christmas Day and NO CARS available. On our return, Hertz expressed no knowledge of the gas waiver and charged us for the full tank even though we did not authorize the charge. Worst rental experience, worst attitude, avoid at all costs.
The absolute worst!!!
So arriving on my over night flight with my family and young children in tow only to find out that the reservation I had made well in advance of my trip meant nothing, "sorry no cars". I am a Hertz gold member which I realize now means 0. I was told 5 different things every time I called back, "theres a list and your 4th for a car", "there's no list and they were mistaken", "call Monday to voice your complaint, not my problem". This was by far the worst service, if they couldn't accommodate me they just should have told me when the reservation was made, instead they reeked havoc on our trip. Hertz has lost my business forever because of this, if you put your brand on it be consistent this was a complete disaster!!!!
