Incredible experience
I signed up for this site just to leave a good review for this location because of the extremely high level of service quality.
I have traveled a lot in my life, and have never had a rental car experience as positive as I had with Europcar PR (I had never used the company before, so I can't speak to their other locations). The rate was very good, the vehicle was in great condition, but it was the customer service that really made this experience so positive.
Timothy offered extensive assistance and helped make our vacation run smoothly (even going as far as helping us with the notoriously difficult Vieques ferry). I would have never expected such dedication that went well above the requirements of good customer service. In addition, after getting (and paying for) a $250 parking ticket on the last day of our vacation--a real bummer--we were informed two weeks later that after inquiring with the police, that they were able to get the ticket charge dropped and our money refunded.
Needless to say, I was extremely impressed with this location and will undoubtedly use them again should I go to Puerto Rico. They seem to have pretty good rates, but after this experience, I would be happy to pay a premium for their service again.
Service
Excellent Service
I would absolutely recommend and use again. The staff and their hospitality get five stars. Reynaldo was stellar. Edison was awesome. An unknown supervisor was also fantastic. We had a series of very unfortunate events on our trip (lost luggage, stolen computer, missed connections) and these guys lifted that cloud over our heads: they stayed late for us to arrive, Reynaldo led us to Walmart in his car after his shift so we could replace lost clothing, they drove us back to our hotel after we returned our rental AND then the manager drove our hotel key back to us after we left it in the rental -- and everybody did it with a smile, no attitude at all! The store is located a short ride from the airport, but there was no booth in the airport car rental terminal which was confusing, but we found the shuttle easily enough. Our car was a Nissan Sentra, which had some dings and scratches, but that was fine, because I'd rather drive an imperfect rental than worry about a new car where every scratch would be noticeable immediately (not that we added any). Our three-day rental was $150+ (and we had added an additional day over the phone.) They're only open for pickup until 5 p.m., so that's important to note if you're arriving late. (Our booking website didn't mention that, but it wasn't a factor for us.) As many sites mention about almost all the rental agencies, read the contract and don't get billed for tollway express pass. The toll is 75 cents each leg and there was never a wait at the attendant booth when sped through with our unnecessary pass that cost $8 (not sure if that was daily or flat.)
Service
Satisfied
Europcar location is situated few miles from the airport. Service was excellent. Luggage was placed in the van by employee. Places of interest were marked on the map. We were accompanied to the highway. Taking the car back, we were driven to the airport by an employee and brought to a gasstation in order to fill up the gastank.
Really good service!
Horrible, Horrible Experience with Europcar Puerto Rico
My wife and I arrived to Puerto Rico on June 28th . We waited in the airport for about 45 minutes until Europcar shuttle arrived. We originally booked the car through Expedia with the total of $185. When we arrived the the main office, one of the employees spent 20 minutes arguing with us that he had to charge us for another day(even though we booked it through Expedia and had everything included in our total of 7 days). That was only the beginning of problemes with had with Europcar Puerto Rico. On the day we were going home, we had to drop off the car in the airport parking lot since our flight was at 7 am and their office opens sometime after 8. When we arrived home, we received an e-mail stating that our car had scratches on the rear bumper. When we dropped off the car, there were no scratches on the rear bumper. We tried to explain that whatever happened in the garage or when the car was driven by one of their employees back to their main office is not our responsibility. They charged us $250 without discussing this issue with us. I had to write a dispute e-mail to the Europcar UK and still waiting to see what happens. On top of that, they charged us taxes twice. Both my wife and I have been traveling for a very long time and never had such a horrible experience with a car rental. If you decide to rent a car from Europcar Puerto Rico please take before/after pictures of your car so they do not blame you for the things you have not done(or just rent a car somewhere else to save you headache and money).
