Complete Scam

All of these comments are spot on. I've never written any review, this is how bad they are. We have been to Cabo dozens of times so know car renting is a complete pain there with insane insurance. We had booked with another agency, but of course, booking doesn't matter there and were approached by Firefly stating they had a car (now I'm not so sure it wasn't the Firefly rep acting as the other agency telling me they had no cars). The scam is they take you to their makeshift office. They take an insane amount of time. Then they have to go "to the back" so they can verify the contract at which time you're supposed to go to the nice lady who is a time share rep. We have a house there so I told her thank you but wasting her time. She asked me to say this out loud so her boss could hear from the back otherwise she gets in trouble. Then she leaned in and whispered "Check the car VERY WELL". I'm originally from Mexico, speak fluent Spanish and this was all done in Spanish. So after spending an hour there, getting the 90% insurance coverage (the car was $250, the insurance was $350 USD, pre-paying the gas, and agreeing to a $1200 deposit), we went with Gerardo and I proceeded to snap pictures of everything knowing it was suspect. When we returned it I had my husband drop it off as we had several children traveling with us. They would not agree to give him the $1200 deposit and close the rental agreement because it wasn't me even though I was in the terminal talking to them on the phone telling him I had returned it, he was just there to close it with my credit card this after taking about 40 minutes with him. I scrambled back to their office and they claimed there was an issue with the car. A TINY scratch on the TIRE (yes, you know the rubbery thing that has tons of scratches especially in Cabo) had supposedly rendered the car useless. I did not have a previous picture of the tiny scratch (but neither did they so not sure how they know this). Since we were about to miss our flight back, I signed the "accident report" making sure I stated there had been no accident and they charged me $350 dollars for a tire that supposedly the 90% insurance had not covered. In the interest of time, I signed, commented, took pictures, (admittedly screamed at all of them for being complete crooks and embarassment to Mexico) and plan to contest it. It's an obvious scam and Hertz needs to control that office, seriously a complete scam.

Don't rent from Firefly

Renting from Firefly was an absolute nightmare. I would recommend using any of the other larger, more reputable rental agencies instead. We reserved an SUV with Firefly weeks in advance, but upon arrival, were told that they didn't have SUVs. They offered us a Dodge Attitude, which is less than half the size of what we reserved. They didn't offer to refund the additional money we paid to reserve the larger car, offer anything else to make it up, or provide an alternative (they're owned by Hertz, which was just down the street). They were incredibly overstaffed, with about six different employees sitting around on their phones. Brenda was incredibly rude and condescending - going as far as to mock our accents and ask us basic math questions. Running late, we agreed to take the Dodge Attitude. However, we realized that the gas tank for the car was on empty (literally blinking!). We then had to wait for another car to be returned in order to finally leave. To make matters worse, we were then overcharged by nearly 20% for the rental. We were to be charged $102 for insurance, but instead were billed $118 on our credit card. It was an atrocious customer experience and I will never rent from this company, or Hertz, again.

para empezar me dieron un auto todo golpeado cuando lo ensendi el auto requería cambio de aceite al entregarlo me cobraron una llanta de las cuatro RESECAS y al momento de ver mi estado de cuenta me avían cobrado de mas hay mas compañías pero nunca con esta TE VAS ARREPENTIR

100% TOTAL RIPOFF!!! THEY CHARGED ME $75 MORE THAN THEY SAID THEY WOULD AND THEN SAID THEY WOULD REVERSE THE CHARGE ONLY TO NOT REVERSE IT AND OFFER ME A 4% DISCOUNT IF I USED MY DEBIT CARD SO I DID, NOW THEY CHARGED AN UNAUTHORIZED CHARGE ON MY CARD!!!! NEVER EVER USE THIS RENTAL PLACE (OR ANY OTHER IN MEXICO FOR THAT MATTER!!!!) THEY ARE ALL CROOKS!!! F YOU MEXICAN CAR RENTAL SCAM INDUSTRY! DIRTY SHITHEADS.

Very slow service

Very slow service, our online booking was no help as the system did not find it.
We only had a few days in Baja California so we did not want to spend too much time at the car rental agency... big failure: we spent 1 hour and a half.
The guy was very slow, he made several typos and had to re-write the contract, with no explanation or apology, and no one from the Firefly team was even polite to us.
Very poor service.
Fortunately, the car was ok.
I absolutely do not recommend this agency, except if you like to waste your holiday time in a freezing room with the sun shining outside.
