Worst Rental Experience Ever

DON'T RENT FROM THESE GUYS the worst experience ever , after booking my car rental from Expedia for $100 , when I got there they wanted to charge me an additional $500 US in insurance, with a smirk on his face while he knows he is screwing me, after negotiation, I took the car with an empty tank of gas , when I came back asking to fill it , they refused , then I decided to cancel and they still charged me 1 day rental for a 5 minutes drive. It is a well orchestrated scam to screw tourist , I am not sure why Expedia still have them on their website. They are taking advantage of tourist and they are getting away with it.

Terrible Service

I would like to comment on a rental from Firefly at the Cancun airport in August, 2016. My car developed an electrical problem and eventually died while I was driving it. I was able to restart it, and after parking the vehicle in a garage, it would no longer start. Hertz and Firefly are affiliated, and I was given another vehicle from Hertz after the first one died, but it wasn't large enough for 6 people. I had to make several trips back to the Hertz location in Playa Del Carmen before I received a replacement vehicle that would accommodate 6 persons 1.5 days later. My booking was prepaid through Rentalcars.com, and I have never previously had a problem with them. However, they don't want to refund the full day and a half I was without a usable vehicle, and they won't cover the loss of personal items that were in the car when it died. In addition, the "roadside assistance" was not helpful. Calls were disconnected, put on hold for long times (up to 20 min), and when given the location of the vehicle, they were reluctant to send someone out to fix the problem. Other reviews of Firefly have mentioned poor customer service, and my experience is the same. I will not rent from Firefly again, nor will I use Rentalcars.com to book future rentals.

Booked for 1 month for $98.00 and expected to be charged extra for ins but was charged $2200.00 for 1 month. Contacted Travelocity customer service and was not helped at all. How do we report these con games?

DO NOT USE FIREFLY!!!

DO NOT USE FIREFLY IN CANCUN!!! You can read the full experience below, but here's what we got... A very rough Nissan Verse with dents, scratches, rust, and a pushed down rear bumper where someone was obviously in a fender-bender. A sketchy car that would never be rented in the U.S. I didn't complain as we were only looking for cheap transportation to get us from the airport to our hotel. We booked Firefly thru Expedia which included car rental insurance. When we arrived, the Firefly representative told us there was no insurance on the vehicle so we'd have to provide a credit card to place a hold of thousands of dollars as collateral, or we could purchase insurance through Firefly. The first quote was $359. A big jump from the $68 we paid through Expedia that was to include everything we needed. I argued with them for 30 minutes before getting the final price down to $118 with a 10% deductible. Now that I'm back in the U.S. and verified we DID have rental insurance through Expedia, I'm having to work with Expedia to get a refund from either Expedia or Firefly. I've used Expedia for over 15 years and NEVER had such a problem. Very frustrating. For the roughly $190 I've put into this rental so far ($68 to Expedia and $118 to Firefly), I'm sure I could have gotten a decent car from a more reputable company and not wasted so much time (time at the car rental place, on the phone from my hotel while I was supposed to be on vacation, and now time on the phone after returning home). Be warned, Firefly Cancun is nothing but a problem. Save yourself the aggravation, stress, and hours of frustration on the phone. Go somewhere else and pay a few more dollars for reliable service.

Realmente es una porqueria de renta autos. Al llegar al aereopuerto de Cancun nos indicaron donde esperar el transporte la cual jamas llegaron, esperando afiera 45 minutos con mi esposa embarazada y al final le pedi a un bus de Hertz que nos llevara. Las instalaciomes dan lastima y al llegar nadie te ayuda con el equipaje ni te salen a recibir, la persona que atiende es realmente pesimo en su servicio y lo peor es que nos dieron un carro sucio,viejo, apestoso, chocado y rayado por todas partes. Fue realmente una mala experiencia y pesimo servicio. Lastima que aruinan la marca HERTZ con tan pesimo servicio. No lo recomiendo ni gratis.

The instalaciomes get hurt and get no help with luggage or you go out to receive , the person attending is really lousy at your service and the worst is that we got a dirty, old, smelly , shocked and scratched car everywhere . It was really a bad experience and lousy service. Too bad aruinan the HERTZ brand with such lousy service. I not recommend nor free.

Firefly cancun: Burn your money, you will feel better.

Prepaid reservation, about 40$ cheaper than the other companies listed online. They require you buy their insurance at 40 $ a day. Does not matter that you have great insurance with your credit card company. They wouldn't let us drive off the lot without buying. Also had to return to hertz. terrible company. I should also mention, the representative helping us said he could help us if we gave him a little help, like maybe 100$. Total rip off. My only hope is that the karma of life comes and gets these guys and leaves infected insect bites on their testicles so they can't reproduce.

Bait & Switch

Despite having had my printed confirmation from Expedia with me, when I showed up to pick up my car these people claim they did not have my reservation on file and would not honor my reservation but did happen to have a car available at 85.00 per day without insurance, which was 5x more the cost of my original reservation. This was a classic bait & switch tactic these people are know for. Had I read the negative reviews on this place I would not have made a reservation through them. After telling them no and proceeded to leave, he came chasing after me with a cheaper option. I said no again and told him he's trying to cheat me. After a 6 hour red-eye flight this was not the way I wanted to begin my vacation. I would HIGHLY suggest Expedia remove these thieves from their list of potential rental places in Cancun.
