Worst Rental Experience Ever
I would like to comment on a rental from Firefly at the Cancun airport in August, 2016. My car developed an electrical problem and eventually died while I was driving it. I was able to restart it, and after parking the vehicle in a garage, it would no longer start. Hertz and Firefly are affiliated, and I was given another vehicle from Hertz after the first one died, but it wasn't large enough for 6 people. I had to make several trips back to the Hertz location in Playa Del Carmen before I received a replacement vehicle that would accommodate 6 persons 1.5 days later. My booking was prepaid through Rentalcars.com, and I have never previously had a problem with them. However, they don't want to refund the full day and a half I was without a usable vehicle, and they won't cover the loss of personal items that were in the car when it died. In addition, the "roadside assistance" was not helpful. Calls were disconnected, put on hold for long times (up to 20 min), and when given the location of the vehicle, they were reluctant to send someone out to fix the problem. Other reviews of Firefly have mentioned poor customer service, and my experience is the same. I will not rent from Firefly again, nor will I use Rentalcars.com to book future rentals.

It really is a crap car rental. Upon arrival at airport in Cancun we expect indicated where transport which never arrived , hoping afiera 45 minutes with my pregnant wife and finally asked a Hertz bus to take us . The instalaciomes get hurt and get no help with luggage or you go out to receive , the person attending is really lousy at your service and the worst is that we got a dirty, old, smelly , shocked and scratched car everywhere . It was really a bad experience and lousy service. Too bad aruinan the HERTZ brand with such lousy service. I not recommend nor free.
Firefly cancun: Burn your money, you will feel better.
Prepaid reservation, about 40$ cheaper than the other companies listed online. They require you buy their insurance at 40 $ a day. Does not matter that you have great insurance with your credit card company. They wouldn't let us drive off the lot without buying. Also had to return to hertz. terrible company. I should also mention, the representative helping us said he could help us if we gave him a little help, like maybe 100$. Total rip off. My only hope is that the karma of life comes and gets these guys and leaves infected insect bites on their testicles so they can't reproduce.
Bait & Switch
Despite having had my printed confirmation from Expedia with me, when I showed up to pick up my car these people claim they did not have my reservation on file and would not honor my reservation but did happen to have a car available at 85.00 per day without insurance, which was 5x more the cost of my original reservation. This was a classic bait & switch tactic these people are know for. Had I read the negative reviews on this place I would not have made a reservation through them. After telling them no and proceeded to leave, he came chasing after me with a cheaper option. I said no again and told him he's trying to cheat me. After a 6 hour red-eye flight this was not the way I wanted to begin my vacation. I would HIGHLY suggest Expedia remove these thieves from their list of potential rental places in Cancun.
