VERY old car
We picked up a car for a 6 day rental booked through a broker (who of course didn't disclose the company before we paid) for a trip to Petra and the Dead Sea. The counter is inside the terminal but the cars have to be delivered so we had to wait a few minutes but it was no problem, the advantage being that they bring your car literally to the front door of the terminal. The problem was the condition of the car. It was OLD - at least 5 years, had 124,000km on the clock and was filthy inside and out. I had rented from Hertz in Amman a few months earlier (downtown office) and had a brand new Citroen C3 so this was really disappointing. When I asked for a different car I was told that there wasn't one so we took what we got. As I drove out of the airport and onto the highway I noticed that there was hardly any fuel in it so we had to fill it up straight away - very lucky I even checked since we are used to picking up rental cars full. I called them straight away and was told to get a receipt to prove that it wasn't full and then return it empty - good scam! We had no problems on the trip but I have to admit, I was worried about the condition of the car, the steering was very loose and the brakes spongy, acceleration rough - as you would expect from a car with over 120,000km on the clock! The service was fine, the staff were nice enough and I didn't get any extra charges for the fuel or damage or have any arguments about it but having said that, given the choice I wouldn't rent from Dollar again because of the age and condition of the cars.
