Worst experience ever!

This review pertains to rentalcars.com operated by Travel Jigsaw in London. We rented a car on line from them when we were in Israel. They said we could pick up the car at Thrifty Rental Car in Beer Sheva. (they didn't mention that the only sign we would see was for Albar car rental). Paid double the taxi fare to find it b/c no sign anywhere stating Thrifty. Given a car that smelled of gas and dog inside the car. Told we could return it at any Albar office in the country by 2pm Friday--Not true--all branches are closed on Friday except for at the airport. What followed was a week long effort to reach rentalcars.com in order to extend our contract at the original rate of $30 a day. Live chat down all week, emails were not returned. When we returned the car at Ben Gurion we were charged 216.00 more than what we expected b/c they stated that the $30.00 a day rate could not be honored. We paid $300 for a ten day rental and over $400 for the additional seven days--go figure! Complained once back in states to rentalcars.com--received totally rude replies. Will never, ever, ever rent from them again. Caveat Emptor!!

Thrifty Israel - finding new ways to scam you - be careful

Be careful when dealing with Thrifty or Dollar rental car in Israel, especially if booking through the internet agencies. Typical bait and switch scam. I made a reservation through airportcarrental.com (an affiliate of Priceline.com). After doing a lot of research and comparing rates I was able to secure a great rate on a Volvo S60 and made the reservation. Being wary of some local business practices at the rental car affiliates in Israel, I took the added step of contacting Thrifty here in the US and confirmed my reservation details and specifically the type of car and the quote I received and was assured that all the details were correct. However when I arrived at the Thrifty/Dollar rental desk in the Ben Gurion airport in Tel Aviv Israel they reneged on the reservation. When I presented the reservation they first told me that they were giving me a Mazda 6 and not the Volvo S60 and when I asked why they first said they did not have any of the car type that I had reserved. I then told them that I had called to confirm that same day that the vehicle would be supply. They then told me that I had not made a reservation for that car but that my reservation was actually for a lower classed car by their local rating system. I had a made a reservation for a "premium" class car and a "premium" class car was the Mazda 6 and not the Volvo S60 which they classed locally as "luxury" BUT after telling me that they did not have that car at the location they told me they could rent me that car but at a much higher price point than what I was initially quoted - seemingly oblivious to the fact that just minutes before they had lied to me saying the car wasn't available. I was left in a compromised position after having traveled over 12 hours and wanting to get to my local accommodations to either agree to be party to the shameless bait and switch tactic or try another rental car company (I chose the latter). Unfortunately this is exactly the type of crooked disreputable business practice that gives Israeli businesses a bad name and by default will color Thrifty/Dollar's global brand reputation negatively as well. When doing my research in search of the best possible rate and best value I saw multiple internet car booking sites that offered this particular deal with Thrifty Israel so this was not a case of a "mistaken" or erroneous quote and there is no way Thrifty/Dollar Israel could be unaware of it without being able to correct any such discrepancy. Shame on them. Shame on Thrifty/Dollar Global company for doing business with this Israeli affiliate Albar - you represent the worst of what Israel has to offer in poor and disreputable business practices and are a discredit to all reputable Israeli business.

Simply put, the staff lies (I speak Hebrew as well as English so it is not a case of misunderstood language) as they likely have been trained to do.

Thrifty TLV is the worst

I received the "bait and switch" treatment with Thrifty. I verified with my credit card company that the 8 seater that I intended to rent would allow for a waiver of the CDW (over $125 for a 3 day rental). I also was made aware that a 9 seater would NOT be covered. When Thrifty couldn't rent me the car I reserved they decided that they would instead "upgrade" me to the 9 seater. I refused this vehicle knowing full well that I would be saddled with the CDW. They gave me a bunch of BS about how it wouldn't cost any more and it would all come out the same. Additionally they added the super CDW which was an optional coverage that I didn't even approve. 2 hours of trying to resolve this left me with no choice. I either took the car or cancelled my vacation plans. I just knew that I was going to be scammed. And I was.
Over $155 dollars later they "couldn't do anything" for me. Their customer service rep, Yana Boubenchikov was rude when I rented the car, when I called with questions and when I filed my complaint. She even told me in her email"Anyways, The car that you needed to have comes with 9 seats,
It becomes an 8 seats car when you put off one seat".
Ridiculous. The whole issue is that the CDW waiver does not allow a 9 seater. Period. Taking out a seat, even if we were dumb enough to do it was not possible. They are benches!!

In Jerusalem Nadav did try to elevate our issues but he was, in the end, unable to help us. To his credit, he did try and he did answer emails.
As for Yana--it's already stated in the above rant.

bunch of dirty scums.

They didnt give me the car I ordered,I needed a bigger car and i specially reserved a bigger car, bur they decided that a nissan micra is good for me as well,so after arguing with them for a 15 minutes they gave a dirty car ,run down, half broken, but I was already late and didn't had the time to fight anymore so I accepted it. On top of it, they charged me MORE than agreed when i made the reservation online, and the service is really really bad. Don't go to them, don't rent from them,it's not worth it !

Disasterious company

First off, the car I booked didn't exist in their inventory, I had to pick another car ( I wasn't picky about it). On the way back to the airport, I had difficulty to find return location. I NOTICED ON OTHER REVIEWS, I was not the only person with that issue. When I saw their sign in the parking , I was told by their staff (HER NAME IS NOY)who was very, rude, angry , talking and smoking cigarette at the same time "This is pick up location not drop off", I explained ,"I'm about to miss my flight" and I didn't want to leave the parking area, she start cursing, and using foul language both in Hebrew and English ( My Fiancée speaks Hebrew). I left the key on top of the car, and took picture of the car. SHE TREAD TO TROW AN OBJECT AT ME. Me and my fiancée kept distance and walk away from her and the car, she said "I will show you , I will show you". When I got back to Los Angeles, I saw 2 more charges on top of my original charge. 1- Smoking charge of $132 for smoking cigarette. 2- Half day + fuel of $104 I returned the car at 3:20 AM (my flight was at 4:50AM) NOY marked my return at 7:30 AM. Neither I Nor my fiancée are smokers. I already called and spoke with LODY in this regard for correction at 972-3-975-4321 within two weeks time period ,SHE SAID THREE TIMES SHE WILL CALL ME BUT SHE NEVER DID. I also emailed her This email address is being protected from spambots. IF ANYONE NEEDS PROOF OR HAVE ANY QUESTION CAN CONTACT ME AT This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
