DO NOT EVER RENT FROM THIS THRIFTY CAR RENTAL

We went to Ecuador for a week. Rented a Economy Chevy Star LT. THere was a problem with the key code alarm system in the car. Second day we could not get car started - called the office and they told us to take the car to a mechanic. Impossible b/c it would not start. That was the only solution offered. After 5 hours of messing with the battery of the starter button, going to town with our hotel host, coming back and charging the battery, the car started. Third day we come out of the zoo only to find the same problem. I call office and suggest that we get the car replaced. They again suggest we take the car to a mechanic. We did and 7 hours later we have a new battery. Car starts. Fourth day, we are driving on a major highway and the car dies -- no power. We luckily get off the major road and sit and call the office once again. They then decide to send someone to replace the car. 6 hours later we have our car exchanged. When we returned the car there was no discount offered, only a small apology and that the problem with the car was a manufacturer's problem. We spend a total of 20 wasted hours of our vacation on a car that should have been replaced on day 1. Very poor customer service.
