Scamming Rental Car Company - be prepared!
Scamming rental car company, be aware! Rented a car in Airport Guayaquil with Thrifty and dropped it off at Airport Quito. 1st problem: The quality of the car! Very unstable and unsafe for the road! Read more below. 2nd problem: We paid for 5 days 54 Dollars for a Navigation System. Thrifty put in for us the direction to Salinas, but the Navi had a Software error and led us 300 km round trip to the wrong direction, while showing we are going towards Salinas. That means: 75 Dollar extra to pay for the 300 km! 3rd problem: Navi and nothing else charged, as cigarette-power was dead. After only 2 hours, not even being in Salinas yet. But luckily then we started seeing roadsigns. 4th problem: When rain, no windscreen fluid and the worst windscreen wipers. Good luck with that in the Andes. 5th problem: The drop of in Quito at Thrifty Airport with the employee named Daniela Ordo**** was an ABSOLUTE disaster. She is a master scammer! We told her about the broken navi and the extra 300 km - and that we don’t see a reason why we should pay this. She then printed a receipt of what is left to pay, and suddenly she had a „fake“ paper saying that we didn’t pay for the navi, so thats why we have to pay for the 300 km…..?!?!?!?!? We proofed that we did pay, her reaction: „Oh sorry, we have system failures recently“ - and the look in her eyes was just to obvious that she just got caught trying to scam us. We made her call the office in Quayaquill, they promised us that the navi & 300 dollar won’t have to be paid. But, this Daniela took it out from our account anyway! Fazit: DO NOT RENT A CAR WITH THRIFTY! YOU WILL HAVE AN UNSAFE CAR AND YOU WILL BE DEFINATELY SCAMMED! We will also contact Thrifty headquarters about this case, as this is an absolute NOGO! Use the other rental company-booths right next to Thrifty, with those we NEVER had any issues. I never wrote such a long review, but in this case it had to be done to warn others. If any questions, pm me.
