Void Avis Europe car hire at Split Airport

Do not hire a car from these fraudsters. They asked if I wanted Collision Damage Waiver and Personal Accident Insurance as extras and my response to the Avis employee was NO ! But on returning to the UK I find I have been charged an extra £123 for these 2 things. An absolute disgrace, and the worrying thing is that Avis Head Office in the UK know this is happening. The Avis employees in the Split Airport kiosk clearly have a scam going on there !!!!

Avoid AVIS - Split Airport

I rented a car in Split (Croatia) - Fiat Linéa. This car had a lot of kilometer at start (85 543 Km). The car was in horrible conditions for a rental car. I let the car in the same condition than i took it. I did a vehicule condition report. I received a debit from Avis of 505,68€! After the rental. I want to understand why, because nothing is write on my location page on your website. I can’t understand. As i did no accident or damage (with pictures to prove it) and let the car with full tank of diesel (with receipt). The agency in Split also doesn't have Key box to let the key of the car outside the normal hour. I contest this debit of 505,68€ (with 10,01€ fees of non € currency). I am writing 3 registered letters with acknowledgement of receipt to your agency in Split & the French autority of concurrence & the European center of consumer which had authority to contest in European Union countries.

BE AWARE!!!

The salesperson at the airport was nice.
BUT:
My credit card was charged almost double the price of the rental! The explanation was that insurance was added by mistake, although I requested NO insurance. I had to call two weeks in a row to check on refund. The refund was issued after two and a half weeks, but $184 short.
