Sixt Car Rental Expands In The US

Sixt, among the oldest car rental companies having had its start in 1912, is making the move to North America. Sixt along with its franchises and partners successfully operates in more than 100 countries with over 1,000 locations.

Based in Germany, Sixt began its American expansion in Miami and has since opened locations in West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando and Tampa Florida, Atlanta Georgia, Seattle Washington, Phoenix Arizona, Las Vegas Nevada, Hartford and West Haven in Connecticut, Charlotte North Carolina, Myrtle Beach South Carolina and Springfield Massachusetts.

The move into the American market is part of Sixt’s long term plan for global expansion.  Now that Sixt has a strong hold in the European market and is widely recognized in South America and China as well as Australia and South Africa, it can count on name recognition and business from international travelers. With a focus on airport locations, Sixt is actively looking to open franchises in the United States and Canada. By relying on the local business owner, franchises will allow Sixt to successfully operate in many smaller locations in the U.S.

Sixt looks to promote the concept of economy pricing for premium cars. This will allow them to compete with budget companies like Fox or Payless as well as big names like Avis and Hertz. Sixt hopes that with an innovative approach and strong financial background it will find a niche in the North American car rental market.
